Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion is a minimally invasive procedure used to renew overall skin tone and texture. It can improve the appearance of sun damage, wrinkles, fine lines, age spots, acne scarring, melasma, and other skin-related concerns and conditions. The procedure uses a special applicator with an abrasive surface to gently sand away the thick outer layer of the skin to rejuvenate it.

Dermaplaning

Dermaplaning is a procedure that exfoliates your skin and gets rid of dirt and vellus hair, better known as “peach fuzz.” It’s different from dermabrasion, where an aesthetician or doctor uses a high-speed, rotating brush to exfoliate the skin. With dermaplaning, they use a scalpel or a tool called a dermatome. The doctor or aesthetician moves the dermatome, which looks like an electric razor, back and forth to scrape off the top layer of dead skin.

Benefits of Dermaplaning

The exfoliation and hair removal can leave your skin brighter and smoother. The treatment may soften fine lines and wrinkles and ease hyperpigmentation, or uneven skin tone. It’s also used to treat deep acne scars. How well it works really depends on your skin type, tone, and medical history.

Oxygen Facial

An oxygen facial is a non-medical procedure that is gentle and painless and requires no harsh chemical peels. The treatment begins with skin cleansing, exfoliation, before a machine is used to introduce oxygen directly into the skin’s pores. Typically the oxygen is treated with a number of supplements, such as vitamins, that nourish the skin. This infusion of oxygen and vitamins into the skin encourages the growth of new cells as well as collagen, leaving your skin smooth, rejuvenated and glowing.

Oxygen facials are especially effective for hydrating dry skin, as the oxygen increases circulation, improves skin texture, restores cell nourishment and stimulates collagen production.

VI Peel Original is specifically formulated to rejuvenate, refresh, and reset for rapid, visible results safely and effectively.

Jessner’s Peel

Peels using Jessner's solution can treat a number of skin concerns, including:

  • Acne or acne scars
  • Age spots or other discoloration, including melasma
  • Dull complexion
  • Fine lines
  • Freckles or sun damage
  • Rough-feeling skin
  • Preparation and Recovery for Jessner's Peel

You will need to be very careful how you treat your skin for several days. We will let you know what products are safe to use while you're recovering. Your skin may be red and swollen for several days after your peel. The skin will then become dry and flaky or crusty before starting to shed. It takes about a week for a full recovery.

Microneedling (HA or PRP)

Microneedling with Hyaluronic Acid (HA): Microneedling, known as Percutaneous Collagen Induction (PCI), is a minimally invasive, but incredibly efficient skin perfecting procedure.

It uses hair-thin needles to cause tiny punctures in your skin. These small wounds will prompt a collagen-stimulating healing process by producing elastin, increasing collagen concentration, and boosting overall cell turnover.

At PB Med Spa, we use microneedling with Hyaluronic Acid (HA) to allow for better, faster absorption by opening a vast number of micro-channels in the skin. It results in increased volume and diminished visible signs of aging by revealing smoother and tighter skin.

Microneedling with PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma)

Often, results of microneedling can be further improved when used in combination with Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP). Studies have shown that PRP can expedite the healing process of tissues and reduce the appearance of pigmentation and acne scarring when used with microneedling. PRP treatment involves using the patient’s own blood as a resource to isolate the platelets with a centrifuge. Because the blood is directly from the patient, the risks of the body rejecting the plasma or having an allergic reaction are minimal. The blood is separated into 3 layers which leaves the PRP available for use during the microneedling process. PRP contains proteins and several growth factors that regulate and activate cell migration and stimulate the production of collagen and elastin.

By using microneedling as the supplemental delivery method for the PRP, the two treatments work synergistically which leads to more rapid collagen production. Patients will be able to note a youthful radiance and tightening of their skin directly following microneedling with PRP but it is recommended to receive 4-6 treatments 4 weeks apart to maintain collagen production and to optimize their skin rejuvenation.
