Slim Shots

Metabolic- B-12- lipotropic injections have been used to help patients achieve generalized weight loss (unlike mesotherapy injections that are designed specifically for fat removal in localized areas of the body). By: #1 Boosting your energy and metabolism (so that you will burn off more fat & calories) and #2 increasing fat removal from the body.

Adenosine monophosphate (ATP) is a metabolism boosting nucleotide and a precursor to the energy molecule ATP. It is also a key component in certain enzyme reactions necessary for fat & sugar metabolism. ATP increases energy production in the body relieving tiredness and low energy states associated with medical conditions (autoimmune disorders, chronic fatigue, muscle & joint pain, stress, memory loss) and also our usual daily fatigue. Low levels of ATP predispose people to be overweight.

Vitamin B12 is an essential vitamin used by our body to create and boost energy. It is involved in the metabolism of most cells of the body, especially affecting DNA synthesis, but also fatty acid synthesis and energy production. Many medical conditions/illness/ substance dependencies as well as normal aging can lead to a B12 deficiency.

Lipotropics are a combination of specific amino acids which are used in removing fat from the body via liver metabolism processes.

Choline & Inositol are natural co-enzymes required for the proper metabolism of fats & have the ability to remove fat from the liver. Without choline, fats can become trapped in the liver, where they can block normal metabolic functions leading to weight gain. Inositol is an aid in the redistribution of body fat and can help to lower cholesterol levels. A lack of inositol has been shown to produce an accumulation of triglycerides in the liver.

Methionine has lipotropic properties similar to those of choline and is one of the nutrients required for choline production and it also reduces fats and aids in lowering cholesterol. A deficiency of lipotropic nutrients may lead to fatty degeneration and cirrhosis of the liver.

In summary, Slim Shots are used to keep cholesterol more soluble, thus preventing accumulation of fats in the liver, to metabolize fats and cholesterol, to aid in transporting fat, to increase our average daily energy lever and physical sense of well-being.

Mesotherapy has been developed in France in the 1950’s but is relatively new to the US. It’s a method of treatment that involves injections of different substances into the middle layer of the skin and into subcutaneous fatty tissue.

Mesotherapy has shown potential as a non-surgical alternative for the treatment of cellulite and fatty accumulations. While not designed as a weight loss treatment, patients report losing inches and reducing cellulite in areas accumulating fat and otherwise difficult to target with diet and exercise alone.

Which body area can be treated?

Any area with unwanted fat: lower and upper abdomen, love handles, “spare tires”, bra bulges, breast, outer and inner thighs, hips, buttocks, arms, chin, jowls, eye pads

Men: gynecomastia (enlarged breasts) and groin pads.

What’s being injected?

The most commonly used drug for dissolving fat is phosphatidyl-choline, a natural emulsifier that is FDA approved.

Treatment: The number of injections per session depends on the size of the area that is being treated (maximum of 50 injections per treatment). Typically an injection is made once per square inch of the area containing the fat.

We use a newly designed Meso-Gun which holds the syringe and automatically fires through a fine 30G needle administering a constant dose with each injection. Injections typically are felt as mosquito bites.

Injections are performed every 14 days or sometimes once per week, total of 4-6 treatments per body area.

A healthy diet and exercise program are recommended to maintain the results.

Results will be long-term if there is no more weight gain over the next few years.

Side Effects: there is immediate burning sensation after the treatment which usually lasts for 20-30 minutes. Local tenderness, swelling, and some bruising lasts up to 48 hours.

Taking anti-inflammatory medications (Asprin, Motrin, Advil), drinking alcohol, and eating carbohydrates should be avoided for 2-3 days after the treatment because it may decrease its effectiveness. Tylenol is allowed.

Wearing supportive clothing and avoiding exercise for 48 hours is recommended.

There is no down-time after injections.

Contraindications: should not be performed if you are pregnant or trying to become pregnant, breastfeeding, or have a history of serious health problems or bleeding disorders.
